Weingut Hirschmugl

The winery is located in the municipality of Leibnitz in the Austrian wine-growing region of Southern Styria, surrounded by wild flowers and herbs, dense forests and vines. The business was established by Anton and Astrid Hirschmugl at the beginning of 2010. In accordance with the aim of producing original wines, fungus resistant PIWI varieties here also been planted. Great importance was attached to aroma spectrum and taste potential. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of wine on extreme steep slopes with sedimentary soils and mineral rock.

They are planted to 80% with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay or Morillon, Traminer , Muscaris and Cabernet Blanc and to 20% with the red Wine varieties Zweigelt, St.Laurent and Cabertin. Certified organic viticulture is practised. In the vineyards there are different type of Vipers. These non-toxic Snakes are considered to be an indicator of an intact environment , which can only be guaranteed in an environmentally friendly way. This is why the Viper is also included on the labels as the winery’s symbol. Only ripe and healthy grapes are selected by hand for processing.

Intense scent of herbs and citrus fruits, delicate nuances of kumquats, green olives, floral touch, some jasmine, elderberry and orange blossom. White fruit nuances, fresh, structured, flowery aromas, lime juice, lively, good substance, close-knit and lively, mineral-salty aftertaste, fresh fruit lingers.
