Weingut Rudi Pichler
Weingut Rudi Pichler is one of the premier estates in the wine region of Wachau in Austria and has been a fixture in Woesendorf since 1731. The Pichler family dedicates themselves to viticulture , cultivating 15 hectares of vineyard. These vineyards are divided in 65% Gruener Veltliner and 30 % Riesling, with the remaining 5% shared by Pinot Blanc and Roter Veltliner – all vinified according to three quality categories of the Vinea Wachau: Steinfelder, Federspiel and Smaragd . The estate vineyards consist of 37 –acres spread between Woesendorf , Joching, Weissenkirchen, and Mautern. Rudi Pichler also maintains a small vineyard of Roter Veltliner across the river in Mautern. He crafts world-class, terroir driven and remarkably precise wines from his low yielding vineyards , which are some of the premier sites in the Wachau.
