Vukoje Winery

Vukoje Winery cultivates 30 hectares of vineyards in two localities : Imperial vineyards of Usce and vineyards in Zasad  Polje , where autochthonous and international varieties are planted.

Imperial vineyards are located on the Ulce site , which is 10 km away from Trebinje. At the end of the 19 th century , the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy declared it to the most suitable for the Zilavka grape variety , and here in 1894 , raised the famous Imperial vineyards from which exclusively wine was shipped to the imperial court in Vienna. The vineyards in Zasad Polje have been erected along the bed of the Trebisnjica River at the best location at the western entrance to Trebinje. Here with an area of 30 hectares, the following grape varieties are planted : Vranac, Zilovka, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Muscat, Merlot and Malvacia .

The Vukoje Winery relies on modern technologies, controlled fermentation processes and the traditional method of wine aging in oak barrique barrels.

Quality is the focus for Vukoje , and no wonder the winery won many international awards and is one of the best in southeastern Europe.

HERCEGOVINIAN ZILAVKA VUKOJE

About the wine: It is recognizable yellow-greenish color. The wine has intense and complex aroma of peach wine, herbs Herzegovina, full of flavor and a very mineral character with a fruity-spicy finish. 

Special recognition quality Žilavka Vukoje gave French enologists who included it on the World Wine Map in Bordeaux as the only wine from Bosnia and Herzegovina. For Herzegovinians lifestyle, tradition, a symbol of survival in lean Herzegovina karst, a wine that generations complements with the tradicional Herzegovinian cuisine. 

Wine and food: Excellent agrees with seafood, sea and river fish, chicken and turkey, roasted pork and lamb, smoked carp and Herzegovinian ham. It’s best with cheese in oil, cheese from the skins, goat cheese and Edam.

 About the wine: this wine is produced from the variety of Vranac familiarized mid-twentieth century in Trebinje and became synonymous for red wines. 

Wine is a characteristic ruby color with slight purple hues, known for its fruity character, aroma reminiscent of ripe cherries, the abundance of wild fruit, soft and harmonious tannins, fullness and youthful freshness of flavor. 

Wine and food: It is recommended with all red meat dishes, lamb and veal roast meat, grill, grilled mushrooms, red spicy sauces, along with any wild animal, ham, and with hard aged cheeses, gorgonzola and parmesan cheese. 

Serving: Serve at a temperature of 16 – 18 °C 

MEDITERRANEAN VRANAC VUKOJE

Winner of the gold medal in Prague at the RWC 2010th 

Wine and food: recommended with strong meals, red meat and venison, steak, red sauces and dips with gorgonzola, noble cheeses and smoked ham, grill, duck, mature cheeses.

Color dark gold with green reflections, complex aroma of almonds, nuts, dried figs, quince, vanilla. Stamp karst soil is felt in mineral flavors, elegant texture, completeness, excellent balance, solid body, alcohol and freshness. 

Wine and food: goes well with smoked chicken and turkey, salmon, duck, goose meat, pasta with cheese, crabs, freshwater and marine white fish, semi-soft cheeses, goat cheese, cheese in oil.

About the Wine: With proper selection of the best grapes of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Vranac and a Syrah, their vinification and aging in oak “barrique” barrels for 24 months, get this great wine that carries a unique blend of primal quality of climate, soil, vines and hardwood. 

Wine has a closed-ruby color, complex aroma of forest fruits, blueberries and blackberries dominant, herbs, white chocolate, the final impression with shades of dewy morning near Trebišnjica. Very extractive and rounded with warm tannins and juicy fruit finals. 

Wine and food: We recommend the venison, steak, pepper sauce and gorgonzola sauce, roast lamb, smoked salmon, duck, goatling, grill, hard cheese.

About the wine: Only the best years of Vranac is aging 18 months in oak barrique barrels of 225 liters in the basement 8 meters underground, and complements the best properties of grapes and nobly wood. 

Wine is a dark red color, rich in a wide range of aromas reminiscent of white chocolate, cigarette tobacco and ripe cherry, white pepper, cinnamon, very strong body, excellent harmony of fullness and freshness of taste, a good potential for long storage time in wine shops. 

Wine and food: The best balance is achieved with a combination of food with all kinds of red meat, lamb roast meat and rabbit meat, all the meat with pepper sauces, steak tartare, kid and duck, smoked meat. Agrees with all the hard cheeses, gorgonzola and parmesan 

Serving: Serve at a temperature 18 – 20 °C. In order to fully realize the greatness of this wine it is desirable to decanting 30 minutes before tasting. 

CARSKO VINO VUKOJE

About the wine: it is made in a prime location for Žilavka in the Imperial vineyards Ušde. Grape variety is unchanged as in the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, when this wine was the official wine of the Royal palaces, 93% Žilavka and 7% Bena. In this wine, modern technology has adapted the traditional mode of production. Imperial wine is aging always in the new “barrique” barrel for 12 months. These vineyards are hand-processed and for this wine we use exquisite vintage. 

Color of old gold with green reflections, smell vineyard peach, quince, vanilla tones, cinnamon, Herzegovinian herbs and dewy Herzegovinian stone. A mineral and creamy taste, extremely elegant with a beautiful harmony of sweet and sour that guaranteed the great aftertaste and immortal life in our senses. 

Wine and food: Excellent agrees with seafood, sea and river fish, chicken and turkey, roasted pork and lamb, smoked carp and Herzegovinian ham. It’s the best with cheese in oil, cheese from the skins, goat cheese and Edam.
