Chateau Kamnik

Chateau Kamnik is one of the most exciting wineries in Macedonia. The winery combines an experimental dynamism with a commitment and aspiration to produce the best wines in the country. Situated just outskirts of Skopje with vinyards overlooking the city, Kamnik is a clear pioneer, leading the way at a time when Macedonia is poised to follow.

Yet somehow the brand maintains an elusive presence , standing alone with its own strong personality. The Kamnik venture began with Ilija Malinkovski’s love of fine wine and a desire to create something authentically Macedonian that could show the world the potential so many here believe in. The almost hobby startup manifested itself in 2004, with the creation of a brand new , state of art winery complete with surrounding vineyards and a distinctive architectural twist that reinforces the brand.

Double yield reduction is pursued in the vineyard , a practice that results I a partial dehydration of the grapes on the vine. When done properly this can give phenolic maturity and with high extraction , the wines have an intense ruby red colour and demonstrate impressive ageing potential. Today the vineyards stretch out across 13 ha , cultivated with new clonal grape varieties , both red and white. The soils and climate are characteristic of the Skopje district: hot summers and moderate winters help to ensure rich , ripe wines.

Red wine varieties are : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Carmenere, Sangiovese, Montepulciano.

White wine varieties are : Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Gewuerztraminer, Temjanika, Greco di Tufo.

Sauvignon Blanc

Estate bottled wine, produced 100% from the Sauvignon Blanc variety. This wine has a specific green-yellow color and crystal clearness. Ageing: 3 to 6 months of extended contact on fine lees i.e. “Sur lie” method from which we get the structure and the body of the wines.

We are keeping the grapes in a cooling chamber before the start of the vinification process. First, we make cold maceration by which we extract the aromatic substances. The fermentation takes place in a special inox vessel, under strictly controlled temperature conditions.

The nose is varietal, revealing tender vegetative notes as a blend of citrus and tropical fruits. The taste is medium-bodied, with a typical freshness, mineral undertones and with a pleasant and harmonious aftertaste.

TEMJANIKA

The grapes are kept in a cooling chamber before the start of the vinification process. The cold maceration (during which aromatic substances are extracted) comes before the fermentation, which is processed in special inox vats, under controlled temperature conditions.

The charm of this wine is reveal through its elegant and sensual aroma, typical for the variety. The prevailing fruity aromas of peach and tropical fruits have complemented the spicy undertones of white flowers and elder. The taste is medium-bodied, with delicate and harmonious freshness and with a long fruity-and-spicy aftertaste.

Golden Temjanika

Golden Temjanika is a premium semi-dry white wine produced from selected Temjanika grapes. The characteristics and the attractiveness of this wine are emphasized with the tender flakes of genuine 23-carat gold added in the wine itself.

Golden Temjanika, except for its ultramodern, tenderly glittering appearance, is characterized with complex fruity aromas revealing dry apricots and orange peel, complemented with spicy undertones. The taste is full-bodied, well balanced, with a harmonious freshness, and with a fruity and spicy aftertaste. The gold flakes in this wine are edible and safe for consumption and gastronomic use, and they do not affect the taste and the nose of the wine.

Fume Blanc

The uniqueness of this wine comes from the 6 months of ageing in new French oak barrels with distinctive minerality, as well as from the application of the “sur lie” method, resulting in a complex bouquet.

The grapes are kept in a cooling chamber before the start of the vinification process. The cold maceration (during which the aromatic substances are extracted) takes place before the fermentation, which is processed in special Inox vats, under controlled temperature conditions.

This wine is characterized by peel-yellow color and crystal clearness. The nose is splendid and elegant, revealing vegetal aromas complemented with tones of tropical fruits. The taste is full-bodied, varietal, with a typical freshness and with a long and harmonious aftertaste.

Chardonnay Barrel Fermented

The wine is produced 100% from the Chardonnay variety from the vineyards surrounding the Kamnik winery. The uniqueness of this Chardonnay comes from the fermentation in French oak barrels with extended contact of the wine on the fine lees, with the so called “sur lie” method, as well as from the 10-month ageing in these barrels.

The ageing process takes place in our wine cellar under strictly controlled temperature and humidity conditions. The complexity of this Chardonnay results from fermenting and 10- month ageing in new and partly used oak barrels with a capacity of 225 L.

This wine is characterized with a yellow-green color and crystal clearness. The nose is complex, splendid and elegant, with discrete tropical fruit aromas. The taste is creamy, with a buttery and biscuit texture, and with a fruity aftertaste of melon and pear. The wine has a remarkable fullness, harmony and roundness, and a great potential for ageing in bottle.

Chardonnay Single Vineyard

Pinot Grigio

Euphoria Temjanika Late Harvest

The estate-bottled sweet white wine has defined by crystal clearness and pale golden color. This aromatic wine produced from 90% Temjanika selected late-harvested berries and 10% Chardonnay grapes. Ageing: 12 months of extended contact on fine lees i.e. “Sur lie” method from which we get the structure and the body of the wines.

We are keeping the grapes in a cooling chamber before the start of the vinification process. First, we make cold maceration by which we extract the aromatic substances. The fermentation takes place in a special inox vessel, under strictly controlled temperature conditions. The fermentation is naturally stopped, because of the high sugar concentration.

The aroma is remarkable, with a sweet intensity and notes of peach and dry apricot, complemented with discreet floral hints. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with delicately balanced acidity and sweetness.

Rosé SEXY

We pay close attention and great care to determine the best harvest time. We are picking the grapes in the right moment of ripeness, when they are concentrated and rich, with an excellent balance of sugar and acids.

The estate-bottled Rose is created by combining several grape varieties: 46% Sangiovese; 20% Montepulciano; 19% Arinarnoa and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, through the application of the so-called “saignee” method. This method enables few hours of direct contact between the grape juice and the skin of the grapes, thus producing an intense red color of the wine, best described as “deep ruby” rose.

The nose is remarkable, with forest berries, raspberries, and strawberries aromas have complemented with discreet bonbon hints. The taste is mediumbodied, fruity, and harmonious, with a long aftertaste.

This wine is characterized by a deep dark scarlet red color and by its nose its revealing aromas of red and dark berries with discreet spicy tones of clove, mocha coffee and liquorice. The taste is elegant, complex and full-bodied, with excellent structure, high extract, soft velvety tannins and long lingering aftertaste. The soft velvety tannins and the harmonic acids enable several-year ageing capacity of the wine.

This estate bottled Syrah wine is marked with a touch of excellence resulting from the double crop reduction, which leads to a partial dehydration of the grapes on the vines, but also from the presence of 5% of Vranec grapes. These steps enable obtaining a phonologically ripe wine with an intense ruby red color, high extract and high ageing capacity. The bouquet is abundant in red and dark berries.

The palate of this full-bodied wine is well developed and elegant, abundant in soft and integrated tannins. The liquorice and chocolate aftertaste is long and pleasant.

This premium red wine, produced from the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, is defined by a deep ruby red color with dark red hues. A genuine reserva wine with a recognizable, ripe, abundant nose with a fruity and spicy character. This wine unveils dark berries combined with liquorice, dark chocolate, roasted coffee and mint, complemented with vanilla and spice tones. The taste is full-bodied, harmonic, with a solid structure, impressive and soft tannins and with a long and pleasant aftertaste that marks this wine with a particular charm. Careful cellaring for several years will ensure development of its further complexity due to its well-balanced alcohol level, well-integrated unobtrusive acidity and soft tannin structure.

By nose it reveals intense, complex smell of a dark berries purée, complemented with discrete tones of vanilla, licorice and spicy notes. The taste is rich, full-bodied, with soft tannin structure and harmonic acids, longlasting fruity-chocolate aftertaste. This wine has a potential of several years extended bottle aging under appropriate conditions.

The Orange

The curiosity about this wine is the traditional winemaking method, 6 months of maceration of the grape skins. Ageing: 10 months of ageing on the sur-lie method in oak barrels under controlled conditions.

The grapes are kept in cooling chamber before the start of the vinification process. The cold maceration (during which the aromatic substances are extracted) takes place before the fermentation, which is processed in special Inox vats, under controlled temperature conditions. The wine was natural fermented under control temperature conditions.

The aroma is complex and plentiful, with notes of toast and Brazil nuts complemented with hints of honey and tropical fruits. The full-bodied and powerful taste of toffees is harmonious, with soft tannins and with a long aftertaste which enables the bottle ageing capacity of several years.

Spark Brut Nature

This Brut Nature sparkling wine is made by traditional method. Aging: wine age for a period of 4-year on the lees (yeast particles). Wine age for a period of 4-year on the lees (yeast particles). After which was disgorged.

The aroma is remarkable, powerful and elegant aroma with fruity and spicy hints. The taste is full-bodied and creamy, perfectly balanced with fruity tones and mineral undertones, complemented with citrus freshness that enables enjoying the long aftertaste.

Muscat Spark

The traditional method enables creation of complex and elegant aroma while preserving the varietal notes. It is abundant in remarkable fruity aromas of dry apricot, orange peel and white flowers. The taste is full-bodied and creamy, with perfectly balanced fruity and spicy hints complemented with some citrus freshness that enables enjoying the long aftertaste.

Spark Rosѐ

Rosé sparkling wine made as a fusion of selectively picked grape bunches of the premium grape varieties: Pinot Noir (15%), Montepulciano (20%) and Sangiovese (65%). The wine is characterized by a tender and sophisticated pale pink color and by delicacy revealed in the shimmer of the pearly bubbles. This brut is produced by application of the traditional method; the wine has rested in bottle on the yeast sediment from the secondary fermentation (en tirage) for two years.

The wine has a powerful and ripe bouquet with impressive fruity aromas of fresh raspberries and strawberries, complemented with spicy hints of roasted hazelnuts. The elegant and full-bodied taste is perfectly balanced with the fruity tones, flint undertones and the citrus freshness, which provides the long aftertaste.
