Zorz Winery
Viticulture and winemaking are a tradition of the Zorz family at slap, supported by the knowledge of modern cellaring techniques. Their roots go back to the distant year 1696.
The Zorz family has been involved in winemaking and viticulture for 5 generations. They started with the purchase of a cellar in 1696. During this time , the Counts of Lanthiera reigned in the Vipava region , who are still known today as some of the most important land owners of that time. They built mansions, castles and estates with cellars , as they also owned many vineyards.
The Zorz family today is proud to own one of the oldest cellars in the Vipava Valley and that the tradition of winemaking and viticulture continues from generation to generation.
The familiy’s farm is one of the largest farms in the Vipava Valley, as they produce on an are of 12 hectares , which brings them between 50 and 60.000 liters of top quality wine per year.
Red varieties are : Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera.
White varieties are : Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Yellow, Malvasia, Riesling and Ribola , and the famous local varieties of Zelen and Pinela have a special place in their vineyards.
Sauvignon

Description: Golden yellow, with slight shades of green. The aroma is pleasant, accentuated, and the varietal aroma is reminiscent of elderflower, green pepper with some aroma of tomato leaves. A medium-bodied wine with a harmony of fruit flavors and a warm aftertaste.
Food and wine: Sauvignon is a great accompaniment to a variety of seafood, tomato sauces and risottos with spring herbs. The wine is also a great combination with cheeses such as goat cheese or slightly aged cow cheese.
Pinela Barrel

Description: Intense golden-yellow color and calm appearance. Rich white wine, with the aroma of ripe white fruits such as peach, apricot and a hint of tropical fruit. Full flavor with a perception of red grapefruit and a spicy tone. The harmony of the freshness of the wine and lying in the wood leaves a soft, rich and long aftertaste.
Food and wine: Pinela is an excellent accompaniment to various appetizers (rich cold cuts, pasta …), white meat, fresh cheese with nuts (pine nuts, almonds) and other vegetarian dishes, and matured Pinela goes well with ripened cheese and beef carpaccio.

Description: Distinctly soft green color with slightly yellow shades. Aroma of Mediterranean herbs such as rosemary, laurel and lavender with a hint of peach fruitiness. It tastes beautiful with just the right freshness, reminding us of dried white flowers. The wine is harmonious, medium-bodied with just the right freshness and softness.
Food and wine: We recommend wine with vegetable dishes such as various risottos and asparagus, but it is also very good with various fish dishes (tuna, trout, catfish).
Merlot

Description: Wine of deep ruby color with the aroma of ripe dark fruits, among which the aroma of ripe cherries and the harmony of ripening in the wood stand out. The taste of merlot pampers us with a rich note of plum and vanilla. The wine contains velvety tannins and an elegant taste that is preserved nicely and for a long time after a sip.
Food and wine: We recommend wine for all types of red meat, including venison and various matured cheeses.
Cabernet Sauvignon

Description: Ruby red with the aroma of red fruits, among which the seductive bouquet of fresh black currants, plums and other dark forest fruits predominates. On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon pampers us with a touch of raspberry and dark cherry. Wine with soft tannins and an extremely nice aftertaste.
Food and wine: We recommend wine to all types of red meat prepared in different ways. It also goes well with ripened cheese and medium spicy vegetarian food.
