Montecappone was founded in the late 1960s in Jesi in Marche’s Ancona province, in the Marche region directly east of Tuscany and Umbria. Owners of Rome’s celebrated wine shop, Enoteca Tuscolana, the Bomprezzi – Mirizzi family purchased the Montecappone Estate in 1997, as an natural progression of the family’s long-aligned passion of wine and business. The Mirizzis immediately restored and expanded the estate, replanting most of the original vineyards and adding others while creating a cutting-edge winemaking facility on site designed for this fruit grown at the location. The estate now has more than 54 hectares of vineyard and along with 12 hectares of olive groves , both scattered among the hills and castles of beautiful Jesi. The vineyard focus here is on low yields, meticulous fruit selection, and conscientious land stewardship. Evidenced by the constant stream of glowing international reviews, this particular bottling is a revating showcase of the region’s unique terroir expressed trough Verdicchio, arguably Italy’s greatest native white grape variety, grown primarily and most famously in the Marche.
