The Prechtl winery is located in Zellerndorf  ( Retzer Land ) in the wine region of Weinviertel, Lower Austria. Franz Prechtl now the fift  generation is running the family business with his wife Petra and their children  Paul, Franzi and Maria.

They are specialized in the grape variety Gruener Veltliner and 50 % of these wines are now exported in 10 countries around the world. Old clones were selected by the family and are the base for special expression in the Gruener Veltliner . Handcraft and sustainable management are the families focus . Franz Prechtl is using fertilize from bull dung and completely avoid herbicides. Cool nights and hot days provide the aroma , strength and elegance in the wine. Six varieties of Gruener Veltliner are produced in the Weinviertel  Appelation.

The soil is primary rock, loess and former sealed , this provide the base for this excellent white wine variety. 14 hectares of vines are planted 90% of them in white wine varieties. Prechtl are also grow Riesling, Welschriesling, Gelber Muscateller und Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and a small production of Zweigelt, Blaufraenkisch and St.Laurent for their red wine cuvee’.
