Wine is produced in several, mostly maritime, cool climate wine growing Regions of New Zealand, an Island Country in the South Pacific Ocean.

Whilst wine has been made in New Zealand since the early 19th Century and expanded rapidly in the early 21th Century.

Today New Zealand has about 92.000 acres of vineyards planted and the main variety is Sauvignon Blanc.

other varieties are Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Syrah.

Most important wine Regions are Northland, Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Martinborough, Marlborough, Waipara Valley, Waitaki Valley.
