Winzergenossenschaft Herzheim am Berg

The wine cooperative based in Herxheim am Berg (Mittelhaardt area / German Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate was founded in 1937. The origin of viticulture in Herxheim can be traced back to a fortified, Franconian noble farm, of which only the northern one is preserved. As the “Pfaffenhof gate” it became the symbol and logo of the cooperative. An expanded, modern wine press building was put into operation in 2002. A new vinotheque with a unique view from the highest point of the German Wine Route was opened in spring 2015. Managing Director is Thomas Vogel, cellar master Bernhard Siegel in charge.

A total of 190 hectares of vineyards are cultivated from the 50 member companies. These are located in the municipalities of Dackenheim, Freinsheim, Herxheim and Kallstadt. The fillet pieces are the Herxheimer individual layers of honey sack, church piece and Heaven, A wide variety of varieties is cultivated. These are the white varieties Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner, Auxerrois, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Rivaner, as well as the red varieties Pinot Noir, Portuguese, Dornfelder, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir and Acolon.

The member companies cultivate according to given guidelines with the aim of healthy and fully ripe grapes. These include variety selection, training system. yield regulation and plant protection as well as strict Hygiene regulations, The processing of the grapes and cellar measures are carried out as gently as possible with the use of gravitation. The “Noblesse” premium line includes the white wines “Chardonnay Spätlese Herxheimer Honigsack” and “Grauburgunder Spätlese Dackenheimer Liebesbrunnen”, the red wine “Spätburgunder Spätlese Herxheimer Honigsack” and the red wine blend “Palatium” (CS, Merlot, Spätburgunder). Grape juices are also produced.
