CILLAR DE SILO
The winery was founded in 1994 by Amalio Aragón along with his children, yet the origins started back in 1970 when the father started buying small plots from neighbouring vine growers with the dream of one day being able to elaborate wine in his village of Quintana del Pidio.
When he decided to create his own winery, he called it Cillar de Silos after the monk who historically was in charge of the administration at the Silos Monastery.
The wines coming from more than 160 acres which they own in the garden of the Ribera del Duiro: between Quintana del Pidio and Gumiel de Mercado (Burgos).
The main variety is Tempranillo and all wines are harvest by hand.

DESCRIPTION
The Cillar de Silos Crianza is the backbone of the winery as it reflects the character of the Tempranillo variety in Quintana del Pidio. Sourced from different terroirs of small plots, some of which are tiny with very old vines. The wine is a dark cherry red with violet hues. An elegant yet mature nose with black and acidic red fruits (raspberries and ripe fruits of the forest), sweet spices (nutmeg, clove and vanilla), cedar and light roasted wood aromas intertwined with liquorice. On the palate, it is fleshy, silky with a well structured balance. A refreshing acidity gives the wine a long length with mature tannins, which in time will become smoother. A long lingering wine with matching flavours and aromas which come together with a perfect finesse.

DESCRIPTION
This is a rosé made in the style which is now in vogue throughout the world, with a resounding personality, vivacity and fragrance sourced from 75 year old vines.
It is clean and brilliant with intense aromas of wild fruits (strawberries and raspberries), gooseberries, aromatic herbs and fennel. Elegant finesse with a dense minerality on the palate, with a good body and long lingering due to its stupendous acidity. Finishing with a light vegetal bitterness which gives it elegance yet sophisticated without losing its identity.

DESCRIPTION
This is a young wine which revitalized old Ribera del Duero traditions when in the 80´s we made a wine without any oak ageing yet with high quality grapes. It is dark cherry red with violet hues and elegant aromas of red fruits and ripe fruits of the forest, with mineral and violet floral tones and a youthful edge. On the palate, it´s fruity, meaty yet silky with pleasant tannins.

DESCRIPTION
Torresilo is the wine that best reflects the perfect character of the winery´s best wine. It’s a wine from unique terroirs, blended with the old custom of achieving quality by mixing grapes from different high quality plots. Blended from more than a dozen small plots with vines of over 100 years old which existed before phylloxera, bearing low yields from high lands. A dark intense cherry red, it’s clean and brilliant with intense complex aromas. Allow the wine to open up and breathe to get the best of its ripe dark fruits (plums), spices (nutmeg) and balsamic notes intertwined with soft toasted aromas. On the palate it is deep, silky, well balanced with a good body with ripe fruits and minerality. Long lingering with an excellent acidity, pure silk mature tannins which will smooth out in time. A lasting and enticing wine. A fabulous example of an elegant vintage with a good capacity for ageing.
