In magnificent isolation, the Schaffhausen area of Klettgau with its undulating vineyards is a wine-growing paradise. Sheltered from the rains of the Black Forest , Pinot Noir is the main grape variety. There are not many grower producers here and the Baumann Estate in Oberhallau is one of the finest. Here is where Rudi Baumann and his family founded the winery in 1978 with today 8 hectares of grapes are planted. Six varieties are in his portfolio, Pinot Noir, Mueller Thurgau, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rulaender and Tokayer. His total production is now by 40.000 bottles with excellent wines. The wines of the Estate are full of character, integrity and frankness. Their most renowned product is ZWAA Pinot Noir a name derived from two terroirs and two wine growers Rudi Baumann and Michael Meyer of Bad Osterfingen.
