Gibbs Estate Winery
In the Valley created between Howell Mountain and Glass Mountain Lies Cross Creek Vineyard.
Originally planted in the 1870s with fruiting trees including walnuts and prunes it was decided by Dr. Lewis Gibbs Carpenter JR. in the mid-1960s to begin planting wine grapes.
Since then the term “harvest” has become more synonymous with Cabernet Sauvignon than prunes, through three rows of the original walnut or orchard remain intact and provide us with a delicious annual crop.
Today the company is owned by Lewis daughter Susan, his son-in-law Craig and their son Spencer.
Main varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

DESCRIPTION
A classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and a hint of Malbec. The Terroir Napa Valley 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is an incredibly food-friendly wine. A nose of blackberry, cassis, and chocolate with hints of vanilla gives way to a deep palate of dark cherry, ripe plum, and mocha. The vintage of 2015 lent winemakers supremely ripe fruit, the outcome of which is shown in the deep red hue of our staple Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2016 Cabernet Franc is a wonderful expression of a lesser-known Napa Valley varietal. Classic Cabernet Franc that offers a lighter body and more peppery notes than our staple Cabernet Sauvignon, with delicious flavours of blackberry and plum.

DESCRIPTION
Three Clones Cabernet Sauvignon owes its name to the three Cabernet clones grown on the estate, 6 – 15 – 337, that create the base for this delicious wine. Each clone adds unique character and complexity to the blend. Upon opening, you are greeted by mouthwatering aromas of ripe black cherries and the tantalizing dusty smell of French oak. A delicious, textured mid-palate of plum and dark fruits sprinkled with black pepper meets soft, sizable tannins for a smooth and silky finish.

DESCRIPTION
Staying true to it’s warm-climate roots, Gibbs 2015 Napa Valley Merlot offers heaps of ripe red fruits and warm spice on the nose. Fresh plucked raspberry, juicy red plum, and fresh cranberry are layered over French oak, subtle cedar tones, and a hint of white pepper. Fresh acidity brings balance to the fruit filled body, while fine tannins make for a silky-smooth medium length finish. We crafted this Merlot to put any doubt about varietal integrity to rest and show that Merlot can be just as complex and rewarding a wine as any.
